Will I be able to install a HSTP if a municipal sewage connection is available in my area?

How does a HSTP differ from a traditional septic tank?

HSTP provide multi-chamber tanks to separate waste and undertake different treatment processes. They also contain media within the chambers as a surface for bacteria to grow on and break down the waste matter. Aeration is applied through an air pump which invigorates aerobic bacteria activity. A septic tank only relies on anaerobic bacteria to break down waste and the settlement of solids is the main process. This results in the putrid water leaving the system being full of contaminants and bacteria.

Are True Water sewage treatment systems suitable for environmentally sensitive areas?

Do home sewage treatment plants smell?

What happens to the treated water at the end of the process?

The treated water is disposed of through a land application (LAA) or effluent dispersal area (EDA) which is approved by your relevant local council. Most of the time, this is via sub-surface application, irrigation, or trenches located in a designated area on your property. The treated water is highly beneficial by drought-proofing your gardens and lawns.

Will my system overload if I have extra guests or a party?

No. The system will operate normally and is designed to cope with occasional flows well above normal operating capacity. The rate of treatment increases as the flows into the system increase, and vice versa for lower flows.

What happens to my sewage treatment plant if there is a power outage?

Our wastewater technology has an inbuilt storage capacity to ensure continued use until power is restored. Importantly, the system can still receive and process wastewater through its unique gravity transfer operation until power is restored and the system automatically resets.

What products are not able to be disposed of with an onsite sewage treatment plant?

Products that are labelled as hazardous materials should never be disposed of down the drain. Hazardous materials are often labelled as corrosive, toxic, reactive, or flammable. In addition, “disposable” wet wipes, baby wipes, nappies and sanitary products should be disposed of in a garbage system.

What cleaning products should not be used with a HSTP?

Consideration should be given to quantities and strengths of cleaning products more than what can and can’t be used. Antibacterial bleach, ammonium, and caustic products should be used sparingly to avoid disruption to the system’s vital bacteria.
