True Water brings Kubota sewage treatment technology to HOTEC in Fiji
The recent HOTEC tradeshow in Fiji was the perfect place for True Water to share information about Kubota sewage treatment technology technology. True Water spent two days exhibiting this exciting, state-of-the-art sewage treatment technology at the Fiji Hotels and Tourism Association’s event. HOTEC is the largest trade event for the Fijian tourism and hospitality sectors.
Premila Kumar, Fiji’s Minister for Tourism, officially opened HOTEC. She encouraged industry partners to take advantage of the great opportunities provided by the two day event. In her address to the exhibitors and attendees she said, “The trade show enhances business relationships and finds new innovative ways to increase investments to sustain growth in the tourism industry.”
This was the 16th HOTEC event held in Fiji and included exhibits from national and international groups. The dynamic program included seminars and competitions in housekeeping, hospitality and food & beverage. The staff from the Fiji Hotels and Tourism Association did an excellent job delivering the event.
True Water was pleased to be awarded a prize for our exhibit which had a distinctly ‘bula’ feel. Our displays featured photographs and technical details about some of our projects in the Pacific. We distributed information packages and discussed our current work in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and remote areas of Australia. Information included details about the Kubota sewage treatment technology and how we apply it to different projects. We also shared some fun and informative True Water Pacific items.
Seminars and Workshops
Over the two day event, a series of mini seminars and workshops were held in areas including;
- VMS/taxes
- Credit Card Awareness
- Wastewater Management
- Guest Experience
- Digital Marketing
- Employment Relations
True Water’s General Manager, Dale James, presented a seminar on Wastewater Management for Resorts. It attendance were FHTA members from various resorts and organisations. Achieving long term operational and environmental wastewater security was the focus of the presentation.
Communities are growing and tourism is developing in remote locations. With the growth comes the need for more environmental awareness and better use and reuse of society’s resources. Snorkelling, scuba diving, beaches and beautiful natural surroundings are central drivers for visitor selection of Fiji. Climate change and over fishing are the more familiar hazards, but pollution from untreated sewage is a hazard too. It can be a serious threat to reefs and the services they provide for marine life and people.
The way we deal with wastewater is changing. Effective wastewater management is vital for the ongoing protection and enhancement of Fiji’s natural resources. Fiji’s coastal and marine environments are of high economic and social importance. To protect this pristine environment and important economic resource, all wastewater treatment solutions must consistently produce safe, treated water.
