The multinational is headquartered in the Japanese city of Osaka, which is historically referred to as the “City of Water”.
In 1870, Gonshiro Ohde was born on a small Japanese Island where he spent his childhood watching steamships. At age 14, the tenacious Gonshiro left for Osaka where he became a Blacksmith apprentice. Businessperson and engineer, Toshiro Kubota, immediately took an interest in Gonshiro and began to serve as his mentor. It was a relationship that resulted in Gonshiro being adopted by Kubota.
In 1890, Kubota Iron Works was founded by 19-year-old Gonshiro Kubota who specialised in metal casting and machining. One of his crowning achievements was the domestic production of iron pipes that delivered clean water; a product that was in high demand at the time due to a crippling Cholera epidemic. Gonshiro Kubota devoted his life to manufacturing products that benefitted society, applying his expertise across various sectors, before passing away in 1959.
True Water and Kubota enjoy a long-standing, committed, and trusted partnership.
Nowadays, the Kubota Corporation continues to innovate in the sectors of food, water, and environment.
